WHAT IS LA CAUSA, INC.?

La Causa, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1972 that prevents abuse and provides education and social services to thousands of Milwaukee County residents. For nearly 40 years, La Causa has been totally committed to helping low-income children and parents overcome the odds in some of Milwaukee's poorest -- yet most diverse -- neighborhoods.

Having grown much since its origins as a pioneering bilingual child care center, La Causa remains committed to fulfilling its core mission.  La Causa's mission is to provide children and parents with quality, comprehensive and culturally relevant services to nurture healthy families and stable communities.

To achieve its mission, La Causa produces quality programs and services that have a positive impact on about 10,000 people every year. These services include:

• La Causa Early Education and Care Center
• La Causa Crisis Nursery and Respite Center
• La Causa Family Resource Center
• La Causa Social Services Division (Wraparound/ Wraparound Reach, AODA & Mental Health Counseling, Treatment Foster Care, SSI Advocacy, Recovery Support Coordination, Healthy Wisconsin program, and more)

WHO DOES LA CAUSA SERVE?

La Causa's clients are overwhelmingly low- or very low-income children and parents in Milwaukee County. La Causa prides itself in its diverse outreach: In 2008, 54% of people served were Hispanic or Latino, while 29% were African American.
