La Causa, in partnership with the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare, strives to secure permanency for children who have been placed in foster care. Additionally, services are provided to families where it is possible for children to remain in their own homes.
Ongoing
Case Management Serving families who have had children placed in foster care, this program provides assessment, individualized plan development, and access to services. The goal is to stabilize the family and obtain permanency for the children through reunification or adoption. Safety Services This program aims to stabilize families who are experiencing difficulties and are at risk of having children place in out-of-home care. Staff works with the entire family to address safety issues while children remain in the home, providing assessment, individualized plan development, and access to services in order to reduce the risk to the children.
Life Skills Services
This program supports parents prior to and during reunification with their children by providing in-home services, including parenting assistance and basic home management.
Supervised Visitation
Serving birth parents who have had children placed in out-of-home care, this program helps parents develop appropriate parenting and nurturing skills and provides them with the opportunity to practice these skills with their children in a safe, neutral environment while being observed by a staff member. Appropriate intervention is provided, along with ongoing assessment of parent skill development to determine when the parent is ready for unsupervised visits.
