PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
JOB LOCATION: Charter School, 1643 S. 2nd St., Milwaukee, WI AND/OR other designated location (Location of position based on program need) PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for providing assistance to the classroom Teacher to ensure a high quality, comprehensive, and appropriate instructional program (in their assigned grade level).
PRIMARY DUTIES: 

Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non Essential / N/A = Not Applicable BILINGUAL POSITIONS MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM ALL OF THE DUTIES LISTED BELOW IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH: 1. Assist in the implementation of the program/curriculum either individually or with a group of children as assigned. E 2. Assist in the implementation of the program/curriculum that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual child and a group of children, through developmentally appropriate practices, in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the La Causa Charter School. E 3. Follow MPS Regulations, DPI standards, and La Causa Policies and procedures. E 4. Ensure a safe environment, including knowing where children are at all times, to prevent accidents, illness, and injury and respond to fire/emergency drills and actual situations. E 5. Establish and maintain good communication and cooperation with all stakeholders. NE 6. Implement the duties of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required. E 7. Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed. NE 8. Perform other duties as assigned. NE

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Minimum of Associate Degree level or high school diploma with minimum 60 college credits. 2. Valid WI DPI Special Education License or must be eligible for a minimum of an emergency license within 90 days of hire. 3. 2 years experience working with children, preferred. 4. Bilingual, Spanish and English strongly preferred. 5. Able to be flexible to the staffing needs of the entire program; hours are subject to change due to fluctuating enrollment and the needs of the program. 6. Able to lift children up to 50 pounds in weight. 7. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, interpersonal relationship skills, and ability to work effectively with others in a diverse cultural, linguistic and economic background; both in a team and individual environment. 8. Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends; based on program needs 9. Must successfully complete TB and drug testing, physical and background checks.

NORMAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Work is generally performed in a classroom, school setting environment. Frequent walking, lifting, bending, standing, hearing, talking, seeing, arm movement, and writing/typing required. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.

Principal, Assistant Principal, or Fine Arts Coordinator; as designated.
