School Psychologist *FOR 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR* (OPENING DATE: 1/24/12 CLOSING DATE: Extended to Until Filled)

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
JOB LOCATION: Charter School (and possibly other locations as directed) Responsible for working with applicable stakeholders to promote academic, emotional, and behavioral success to enhance student achievement.
PRIMARY DUTIES: 

Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non Essential / N/A = Not Applicable 1. Facilitate all aspects of needs assessments and treatment plans / implementation to include, but not limited to: conduct diagnostic studies and evaluations, identify child's needs, limitations, and, potentials, refer appropriate cases to specialized skills or programs, provide treatment to children utilizing a variety of psychological interventions (i.e.; psycho-educational therapy, counseling students, parents and/or teachers) conduct prevention / intervention activities with students, assist in identifying factors in the learning environment that may affect the student and assessing their degree of impact, etc. E 2. Ensure compliance, in collaboration with applicable stakeholders, to include, but not limited to: compliance of IDEA plan as outlined in the school’s educational plan, Intake Special Educational referrals in accordance with MPS policies, participation and reporting of initial special education individual education program evaluations, etc. E 3. Support, assist, and serve as a liaison for applicable stakeholders (i.e.; students, teachers, parents, School Administration, etc.) to include, but not limited to: planning, development, and evaluation of programs or interventions to meet identified learning and adjustment needs, consult on and design treatment and educational programs appropriate to the educational setting, provide resources and consultation to all stakeholders, participate in conferences and meetings with stakeholders as needed, collaborate with stakeholder to ensure implementation of intervention strategies, provide consultation on classroom management procedures, and classroom organizational structures, conduct workshops/trainings for stakeholders regarding a variety of learning and mental health topics, etc. E 4. Develop and enhance the overall program to include, but not limited to: conduct and/or assist in conducting on-going formal and informal needs assessment to determine program characteristics and needs and generate recommendations, design methods for collecting program evaluation data, including questionnaires, standardized tests, observation records, etc. E 5. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws, and policies (i.e.; ethical codes of profession, MPS, etc.). E 6. Prepare, complete, distribute, and/or submit required items by due dates; to include, but not limited to: case notes, reports, statistical data, etc. E 7. Implement the duties of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required. E 8. Attend all meetings, workshops, and professional development activities, as directed. E 9. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration and cooperation with all stakeholders (i.e., parents, teachers, School Administration, MPS representatives, etc.). NE 10. QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Master’s degree in Psychology or related field. 2. Valid WI DPI License in Psychology. 3. Minimum of three years work or field experience working with children and families strongly preferred. 4. Bilingual, Spanish and English, strongly preferred. 5. Developed competencies in team building, leadership, and training. 6. Excellent critical thinking skills; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 7. Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and able to respond quickly and courteously. 8. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and data bases with experience in using Microsoft Office suite. 9. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, interpersonal relationship skills, and ability to work effectively with others in a diverse cultural, linguistic and economic background; both in a team and individual environment. 10. Must successfully complete and pass all background checks to include, but not limited to: Criminal History, TB Testing, and Physical. 11. Transportation, valid Wisconsin driver’s license, state minimum car insurance, and must meet La Causa’s driver’s standards. 12. Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, depending on program needs.

NORMAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Work is generally performed in a school setting environment. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Some local travel may be required. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
