Teacher K5-8 (Bilingual English/Spanish) (ONGOING OPENING)

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
Responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a high quality, comprehensive and appropriate instructional program (in their assigned grade level).
PRIMARY DUTIES: 

Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non Essential / N/A = Not Applicable BILINGUAL POSITIONS MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM ALL OF THE DUTIES LISTED BELOW IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH:1. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies (i.e.; National Core Standards, MPS Learning Targets, etc.). E  2. Ensure a safe environment to prevent accidents, illness and injury and respond to fire/emergency drills and actual situations. E  3. *Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the program/curriculum in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the agency, contractor, State, or other applicable entity. E  4. *Administer multi-level assessments and evaluations, specific to monolingual or bilingual instruction, in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the agency, contractor, State, or other applicable entity. E  5. Develop and submit lesson plans, as directed. E  6. Establish and maintain good communication and cooperation with all stakeholders. NE  7. Implement the duties of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required. E  8. Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed. NE  9. Perform other duties as assigned. NE  *Bilingual position incorporates curriculum and assessments for ESL (i.e.; General Increase in English Language Instruction Approach) in English and Spanish.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field from an accredited University or College. 2. Valid WI DPI License in applicable area or ability to obtain emergency license within 30 days of hire. 3. One-year experience working with families and/or classroom experience. 4. Must be detail-oriented, able to problem-solve, use critical thinking, have decision-making skills, and able to manage multiple priorities. 5. Good computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets, specifically with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. 6. Able to demonstrate the ability to work and communicate frankly and effectively with families to implement problem solving strategies, understand issues, and to make effective connections for services. 7. Bilingual, Spanish and English, strongly preferred (required for Bilingual positions). 8. Demonstrate cultural competency with diverse groups and ability to work with individuals from diverse economic backgrounds in respectful manner. 9. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, interpersonal relationship skills, and able to work effectively with others from culturally diverse, linguistic and economic background; both in a team and individual environment. 10. Excellent critical thinking; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 11. Highly developed organizational skills and able to manage multiple priorities. 12. Able to be flexible to the staffing needs of the entire program; hours are subject to change due to fluctuating enrollment and the needs of the program. 13. Transportation required. 14. Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends; based on program needs 15. Must successfully complete TB and drug testing, physical and background checks.

NORMAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Work is generally performed in a school setting environment. Frequent walking, standing, hearing, talking, seeing, arm movement, and writing/typing required. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Local travel required; some state-wide travel as needed. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
