La Causa Charter School, is a bright, modern and spacious three-floor school structure that provides a secure, inspiring learning environment for a struggling, hard-working community, where parents’ limited English proficiency is a common risk factor for children. Programs and Services
Providing Elementary and Middle School Education, La Causa Charter School has laid a firm foundation in education, serving students K5 – 8th Grade. The goal of La Causa Charter School is to prepare our students for success in high school, college, and the ever-changing global workplace.
At La Causa Charter School, strong parental and community involvement is key to our success. The goal is to provide our students with innovative, foundational, bilingual and multi-cultural learning experiences. Our school focuses on a Math and Reading instruction with a strong emphasis on Fine Arts and Vocational Education. We are proud to offer Music, Art, Physical Education, Computer Literacy, Experimental Science, Robotics, Video Production and Library Programming.
La Causa’s Community Learning Center (CLC) provides a range of high-quality services designed to enhance student learning and development and to compliment their regular academic program. CLC activities include: tutoring and mentoring, homework help, academic enrichment (such as hands-on science and technology programs), community service opportunities, as well as music, arts, sports, and cultural activities. At the same time, the CLC helps working parents by providing a safe environment for students when school is not in session.
During 2008:
- Increased enrollment and educated 500 students
- Increased test scores by approximately 15%
- Implemented a Block Scheduling Initiative (90 minutes of daily Math and Science)
- Provided 138,816 meals
- Construction began on a $2.5 Million Expansion that will include new space for an additional 100 students; a New Library Center; Digital Video Production and Media Center; Science Lab; Robotics Lab; Music Center; a Creative Arts Classroom; Special Education Center; Nurse Station; Teachers’ Lounge; and a new Training/Conference Center.
