WISCONSIN CARES ABOUT KIDS AWARD
TO BE GIVEN TO MILWAUKEE’S LA CAUSA, INC.
First Lady Jessica Doyle to present award to the children and family organization
Milwaukee — La Causa, Inc. will receive the Wisconsin Cares About Kids Award at 1:40 pm on November 18, 2008. The award, sponsored by Governor Jim Doyle and the State Public Defender’s Office, formally recognizes extraordinary efforts in working with children. The ceremony will be held in the cafeteria of the La Causa Charter School located at 1643 S. 2nd Street in Milwaukee.
In addition to First Lady Jessica Doyle, Public Defender Board Vice-Chair Joe Morales and Deputy State Public Defender Kelli Thompson will present the award.
Founded in 1972, La Causa is one of the largest bilingual, multicultural agencies committed to providing children, youth, and families with quality, comprehensive services to nurture healthy family life and enhance community stability. Serving nearly 13,000 individuals annually La Causa provides a broad range of family-centered services that include education in a Charter School setting to early education and care, from foster care recruitment, to mental health treatment services to parenting classes and support groups, and from case management to children in protective custody to sheltering and resources for families in crisis.
