STUDENTS COMPLETE HISTORY AND READING CLASS WITH WASHINGTON D.C. FIELD TRIP
Milwaukee, WI – La Causa Charter School’s 8th grade class is heading on their first ever field trip to Washington D.C. Monday, May 16th through Friday, May 20th.
The trip is another example of how La Causa Charter School offers an outstanding educational experience and strives to give students all the opportunities available in schools located in more affluent areas.
As part of the American History and Reading curriculum, the trip will bring to life subject material and close the year with rich historical perspectives and experiential learning. While in D.C. students will visit various historical attractions such as the Ford's Theater, the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the National Archives.
“The teachers and students have been working extremely hard all year, through planning and fundraising nearly $20,000, to make this trip possible for the students. This trip is another example of ensuring our students receive a well rounded education while providing a wide variety of cultural learning experiences” says La Causa’s Vice President for Education, Jesse J. Rodriguez.
Departing from the Rockwell Automation headquarters, 32 eighth grade students will head out for the much anticipated weeklong field trip. “Rockwell Automation has been such a great supporter of La Causa and the surrounding community over the years,” said George A. Torres, President & CEO of La Causa, Inc. “We do not have an abundance of space available to gather as a group without interrupting regular scheduled school activities and so we feel very fortunate to have such a great partner in Rockwell Automation. Their help providing some temporary space will make it possible for our staff and students to have the necessary space for staging luggage checks and going over rules and procedures to ensure a safe trip.”
La Causa, Inc. is one of the largest bilingual, multicultural agencies in Milwaukee, serving more than 11,000 individuals every year. Core services focus on education, child abuse prevention, and social services that provide valuable assistance to vulnerable families. Programs include a Charter School, an Early Education and Care Center, a Family Resource Center, a Crisis Nursery and Respite Center, foster care recruitment, mental health services, parenting classes, support groups and a full array of other innovative programs for people in need.
