La Causa, Inc., a nonprofit organizations founded in 1971, today serves more than 10,000 clients through a slew of innovative, effective and efficiently run programs.
La Causa Early Education & Care Center
Our Early Education Center is a direct descendant of the very first La Causa Daycare established by the organization’s founding mothers back in 1971. Today, our Early Education & Care Center cares for nearly 900 unduplicated children every year, and we operate from 5:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. on weekdays. We are located at 809 W. Greenfield Ave. in Milwaukee.
La Causa Charter School
Started in 2001, La Causa Charter School is on the fast track to becoming a model school in our community. Serving students K5 through 8th grade, we educate 640 students, more than 90 percent of them Latino/Hispanic. Our modern, spacious three-floor school is a beacon of learning and inspiration for the south side community. In 2009 we unveiled a new expansion of the school to accommodate brand new robotics, science, art and computer laboratories, part of the initiative to expose our students to the best possible education possible, regardless of their family income or ethnic/racial background. We are located at 1643 S. 2nd St.
La Causa Crisis Nursery and Respite Center
Opened in 1990, the La Causa Crisis Nursery & Respite Center is the only center of its kind in southeastern Wisconsin. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide care for children from birth to 12 years of age in a safe, free, nurturing place during times of family emergency/crisis, high parental stress or need for respite care. La Causa Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center offers a variety of programs and services that enrich and engage parents with the aim of strengthening families. Our classes and workshops are offered year round. Most programs are offered in both English and Spanish. We are located at 804. W. Greenfield Ave.
La Causa Social Services
La Causa Social Services Division houses an array of community services for children, adults and families designed to support personal growth and self sufficiency. Our staff is comprised of highly trained bilingual care coordinators, specialists, advocates and licensed mental health and AODA clinicians. Our services include Wraparound/ Wraparound REACH, AODA & Mental Health Counseling, Treatment Foster Care, SSI Advocacy, Recovery Support Coordination, Healthy Wisconsin program, and more.
