Math at La Causa Charter School

At La Causa Charter School, the goal of our math program is to prepare students with the mathematical concepts they need along with the technological experiences to excel. We have extended learning blocks in mathematics which allow us flexibility in offering a differentiated math curriculum aligned to the State Standards. We incorporate CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) and Marzano’s academic vocabulary to improve our students’ mathematical understanding. In addition, our math classrooms have SMART Boards used to present lessons with the latest technology and provide interactive opportunities for our students. Through hands-on projects in our STEM classes, we strive to have our students apply their mathematical thinking and problem solving skills to real world situations.

FAVE (Fine Arts and Vocational Education)

La Causa Charter School places a strong emphasis on reading, literacy and mathematics. But we also recognize the crucial role that the arts and sciences have in our students’ education. Our school is proud of our Fine Arts and Vocational Education (FAVE) program, which ensures our students receive a minimum of 104 minutes of FAVE instruction each day. Each of the following FAVE programs is designed to reinforce strong reading, literacy and mathematics growth in our youth:
