PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for administering and/or assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Finance and Accounting Department; with a focus on payroll administration.
Primary Duties

- Provide back-up support and coverage for Finance and Accounting staff, as needed. E
- Provide guidance and support to Directors, Supervisors, and employees, as needed. NE
- Process the organization’s payroll and all applicable components. E
- Prepare, complete, distribute, and/or submit required items by due dates (monthly closing, income recognition, receivables reconciliation, reserve schedules, period-end journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, period-end financial reports, financial period closings, cash flow reports, bank reconciliations, periodic and special financial reports, etc. E
- Create, maintain and update information for employee payroll files, employee benefits worksheet, general departmental files, etc. E
- Assist CFO to ensure compliance and accurate data and documents (account classifications, grant fund expenditures, incoming/outgoing documentation such as purchase orders, payables/receivables, etc.). E
- Follow and ensure adherence to all legal, organizational, and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E
- Attend meetings and professional development activities, as requested. E
- Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders. E
- Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E
- Perform other related duties, as assigned. NE

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited school in Accounting or related field. CPA highly desirable.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in accounting, preferably in the not-for-profit field.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of a computerized payroll system (Paylocity highly desirable) and accounting tools; knowledge of Account Mate desirable.
- Excellent abilities in word processing, spreadsheets, and data bases with experience in using Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent critical thinking; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Strong cultural competency and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, appropriate to target audiences across multiple functional areas, categories, levels, linguistic, and economic backgrounds; both in a team and individual environment.
- Must successfully complete and pass all background checks.
- Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.
- Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, depending on program needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in an office environment. Infrequent local/state-wide travel. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
