By using their personal recovery experience as a tool; responsible for presenting recovery information, providing information about mental health resources, assisting in identifying and supporting consumers in crisis, and facilitating self-direction and goal setting.
Primary Duties

1. Facilitate all aspects of providing individual support to consumers identified, but not limited to: engage individual’s in their recovery goals, transport consumers as needed, assist in developing strategies to utilize during times of crisis, assist in linking consumers to resources in the community, assist in engaging a team of supports around the consumer to assist through the recovery process (family support and community based), work 1:1 with individual’s based on their strengths and interests, etc. E
2. Provide supportive services with a person centered, strength based, culturally intelligent, and trauma-informed focused support. E
3. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E
4. Prepare, complete, and submit required items by due dates and required timelines (i.e.; progress notes, reports, etc.). E
5. Establish and maintain good communication and cooperation with all stakeholders and other treatment providers. NE
6. Implement and/or practice the duties and responsibilities of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required. E
7. Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed. NE
8. Perform other duties as assigned. NE
Required Qualifications
1. High School Diploma (HSD)/ General Educational Development (GED).
2. Minimum of 18 years of age.
3. Valid State of Wisconsin Peer Specialist Certification OR must be certified as a State of Wisconsin Peer Specialist within 12 months of hire.
4. One (1) year of experience working in the community.
5. Bilingual (Spanish and English), oral and written, preferred.
6. Strong cultural competency and interpersonal relationship skills.
7. Excellent communication and documentation skills, written and verbal, appropriate to target audiences across multiple functional areas, categories, levels, linguistic, and economic backgrounds; both in a team and individual environment.
8. Excellent critical thinking; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
9. Highly developed organizational skills and able to manage multiple priorities.
10. Knowledge and experience with experience in using Microsoft Office suite.
11. Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends depending on needs of the program needs.
12. Must successfully complete and pass all background checks; including an annual influenza vaccination.
13. Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in field and office environments, including travel. Local travel required; some state-wide travel as needed. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
