PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing various forms of support and assistance, including using personal recovery experiences as a tool, for consumers with mental health needs.
Primary Duties

- Provide supportive services with a person centered, strength based, culturally intelligent, and trauma-informed focused support.
- Responsible for providing individual support to consumers identified (engage individuals in their recovery goals, transport consumers as needed, assist in developing strategies to utilize during times of crisis, assist in linking consumers to resources in the community, assist in engaging a team of supports around the consumer to assist through the recovery process (family support and community based), work 1:1 with individuals based on their strengths and interests, etc.). E
- Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E
- Complete/collect/process and/or submit required items by due dates. E
- Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders. E
- Attend meetings and professional development activities. NE
- Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E
- Perform other related duties as assigned. NE

Required Qualifications
- Certified Peer Specialist I - High School Diploma (HSD) or GED.
Certified Peer Specialist II - Bachelor Degree from an accredited school in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
Certified Peer Specialist III – Master Degree from an accredited school in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
2. Valid State of Wisconsin Peer Specialist Certification OR must have completed applicable training and be certified as a State of Wisconsin Peer Specialist within 12 months of hire
3. One (1) year of experience working in the community.
4. Bilingual (Spanish and English), oral and written, highly desirable.
5.Able to work and communicate frankly and effectively with adults, families, and all team members to implement problem solving strategies, understand issues, and to provide crisis services in an ethical, respectful, responsible manner.
6. Able to demonstrate positive cultural intelligence with diverse groups and individuals
7. Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.
8. Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.
9. Knowledge and experience with experience in using Microsoft Office suite.
10. Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.
11. Must be able to successfully pass criminal history background checks.
12. Must be able to work flexible hours based on program needs.

For Adult Programs: Must be able to show proof of vaccination and/or evidence of immunity (or receive a medical/religious exemption) of Influenza (annually), Tuberculosis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (Youth only requires annual Influenza).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in field and office environments, including travel. Local travel required; some state-wide travel as needed. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
