PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for (while using their own personal recovery experience as a tool) providing support and assistance, presenting recovery information, providing information about mental health resources, assisting in identifying and supporting consumers in crisis, and facilitating self-direction and goal setting.
Primary Duties

- Responsible for providing individual support to consumers with a person centered, strength based, culturally intelligent, and trauma-informed focus (engage individuals in their recovery goals, transport consumers, develop strategies to utilize during times of crisis, link consumers to community resources, engage a team of supports to assist consumer through the recovery process, work 1:1 with individuals based on their strengths and interests to help work towards and/or maintain recovery, etc.). E
- Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E
- Complete/prepare/collect and submit required items by due dates; to include, but not limited to: progress notes, reports, etc. E
- Establish and maintain good communication and cooperation with all stakeholders and other treatment providers. NE
- Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E
- Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed. NE
- Perform other duties as assigned. NE
- Be a team player. E
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (HSD) or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- TCM - Valid State of Wisconsin Peer Specialist Certified.
- Minimum of six (6) months of professional (social work-related), educational (internship), volunteer (community-based) and /or personal (actual experience with mental health services, hospitalization, medication management, etc.) experience highly preferred/desirable.
- Strong cultural competency and able to provide services in an ethical, respectful, responsible manner.
- Able to work with diverse groups and individuals.
- Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English), oral and written, highly desirable.
- Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.
- Must pass criminal history background checks.
- Must be able to work flexible hours based on program needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk. Infrequent lifting may be encountered.
Must obtain annual influenza vaccination or an approved exception and obtain and pass an annual Tuberculosis (TB) test or an approved exception and provide satisfactory vaccination information for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in field and office environments, including frequent local travel. Some statewide travel, as needed. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
