PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides various forms of recovery-focused support and assistance, including using personal recovery experiences as a tool, for parents with children experiencing mental health, substance use, or co-occurring needs.

- Provide one-on-one peer support to parents/caregivers in the home and in the community toward supporting their efforts as they engage in services provided through Wraparound Milwaukee toward meeting their established goals for their child and family. E
- Work to engage with parents who have disconnected from or have barriers that prevent them from connecting with the Child and Family Team and establish a means of reengaging them with services by understanding and supporting their viewpoints and perspectives. E
- Help parents/caregivers in supporting their individual needs through identifying strategies toward maintaining self-care, providing parental mentorship and crisis management skills, navigating through systems of care, and education aimed at preparing and supporting parents/caregivers in understanding and supporting children with complex mental health, substance use, co-occurring, and behavioral needs. E
- Serve as an advocate for parent/caregivers when interacting within the Child and Family Teams, with system partners, legal entities, and other community stakeholders to ensure the voice of the parent/caregiver is heard and remains in focus. E
- Collaborate with the identified care coordinator to ensure the needs of the parent as identified in the Plan of Care are achieved. E
- Provide support and assistance to the Wraparound and REACH teams such as but not limited to understanding the needs of parents/caregivers who are caring for a child with complex mental health, substance use, co-occurring, and behavioral needs. E
- Serve as a consultant to the Child and Family Teams to support youth and families in achieving their established goals. E
- Ensure compliance with legal, organizational, and contractual laws and policies. to include, but not limited to audits, program evaluations and recommendations, licensing requirements. E
- Ensure all legal, organizational, and contractual requirements are being followed. E
- Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders. NE
- Follow all duties and responsibilities of a mandated reporter. E
- Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as needed. NE
- Perform other duties as assigned. NE
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED/HSED required. Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work or related field (as approved by Wraparound Milwaukee) preferred.
- Wisconsin Certification as a Peer Specialist and/or Parent Peer Specialist.
- Lived experience of parenting a child with mental health, substance use, co-occurring, juvenile justice, and/or other life domain needs. (Highly preferred)
- Ability to work with and support children, young adults, and families.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English), spoken and written. (Highly preferred)
- Neat orderly person with great organizational skills.
- Must be a “People Person” with a great disposition and outlook on life, who enjoys working with others, is upbeat and pleasant to work with and is a good listener.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, written and verbal
- Must pass all background checks.
- Valid driver’s license and WI vehicle insurance.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in field and office environments, includes travel to client homes for appointments and /or court hearings. Local travel required; some occasional state-wide travel may be needed.
